Hello everyone.
Just to let you know we’ve been asked to play a gig with our good friends The Wrong Boyfriends and The Reverse Cowgirls in August at our favourite venue, the 13th Note. Exciting stuff! Early reports from our practices and mini gig have been very positive, so expect a really good new set.
You may get a sneak peak if you go to the Clyde Bar this Sunday (1st July) as we plan to do a few songs with the new equipment and style. Then we are off to Berlin on the 4th, and who knows if we will ever come back?
For now, here’s another serving of the January recordings, thanks for listening.
p.s. this song requires a good sound system.
An old one this time played differently:
Here is the next song from the EP. This one may lose its place in our repertoire, at least when we play with electronic drums. Its hard to capture the energy it needs without being able to mess around with the tempo naturally. This was my favourite song going into the recording, but the one I was least pleased with. That said, I think it still stands up there with the rest.
In other news our mini gig on Wednesday night went very well. Much better than we anticipated actually. It definitely helps to hear the drum machine loudly. We’ll start gigging in ernest when we learn what we’re doing. It was a pleasure to play alongside The Beautiful Lies again, hard work for Chris to play alongside Napoleon’s Dogs (hard work playing twice in an hour) and Fiction Faction put on a great show.

Before our gig tonight we’ve decided we’re going to put out the EP recording we did a few months ago. Take a listen to the first track here:
We are very pleased to announce we are playing the 13th Note this coming Wednesday. Expect a different sound and set up than normal, as indicated in the photo above. This is part of the Chris and Stu getting off their arses project.
It’s a little bit last minute, with us fitting onto the bill just this week. As such, the set will be a re-imagining of our live band songs, including two that have never been heard before. Dave will be filling in with some bass duties while Chris and Stu will be trying to understand new equipment and arrangements.
This is not to be missed, as we’ll know exactly what we are doing next time.
We’ll be on first, so you need to get down early (8pm). Also playing are Chris’ other band Napoleon’s Dogs, our friends The Beautiful Lies and the exciting Fiction Faction. A steal at £3.
Sorry, we’ve had to pull out of this. The Wrong Boyfriends and Dirty Red Turncoats are still playing, along with a substitute for us, so it’ll still be a great night!
We’ll be returning to playing live under a slightly new guise at the end of April, alongside The Wrong Boyfriends and The Dirty Red Turncoats.
As long as everything goes as planned, this will also be the first time you can get your paws on our EP.
Where? The 13th Note.
When? 26th April, 8pm.
Why? That’s your problem.
Here is some Wrong Boyfriends to keep you going for now:
Tomorrow we are off to record the vocals for the recordings we did a few weeks ago with Tommy at 16 Ohm. Like everything we do it seems to be taking a while. At least with a bit of time, we get perspective on the mix. We hope to get it mixed and released soon.
Tommy is a real pleasure to work with. I’d recommend 16 Ohm to anyone wanting to record in the Glasgow area. The equipment is nice, Tommy has a lot of patience and good ear, and the rates are excellent too! The website for the studio is http://www.16ohm.co.uk He is in a number of bands, including a favourite of hours, The Plimptons.
I imagine the first song to go online will be in video form, so stay tuned.
